WALK OF JOY INDIA
A walk to share joy and happiness with all people right across India. From July 2017 - May 2018 we walked 5,000km across 10 states from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu to Amritsar Punjab.
We walked to raise awareness about organic and sustainable agriculture, and to highlight the plight of India's farmers who are in the midst of an agricultural crisis that has already caused more than 300,000 farmers to commit suicide in the last 20 years.
From Kerala to Punjab right across India we met with hundreds of successful farmers, research institutes, universities, NGO's and others practising an incredibly diverse range of techniques, all of whom were pioneers in their own fields leading the way forward to producing sustainable food and helping the nation's farmers.
In each state we visited we connected local farmers to their nearest most successful farmer who was willing to help them and show them an alternative way of farming that doesn't harm the land. A site visit allows farmers to see, smell, hear, taste and touch a farm in the same climate and environmental conditions as their own.
We found that the most successful way to help farmers was to take them to a local successful farm where they can see, smell, hear, taste and touch the farm.
We are now working on a book to tell the stories of all the successful farmers we met along the way.
