In 48 days we walked 1110km across the entire length of Peninsular Malaysia. We started our journey on the 11th January 2014 in Tanjung Piai, Johor and finished on the 27th February in Wang Kelian, Perlis.
We chose Malaysia for our first project as it has some of the world's oldest rainforests and many unique ecosystems yet environmental awareness is generally quite low. We partnered with The Borneo Project an organisation working with 4 local NGO's to protect Borneo's jungle and the people who live there.
We planned the entire walk in just 1 week and set off with no knowledge of long distance walking and no idea what to expect. Along the way we learned so many lessons the hard way and the 48 days were a steep learning curve of blisters, heat stroke and dehydration. It was also an amazing 48 days where we met and connected with thousands of people and saw some stunning environments and places.
